Abstract

La Dra. María Herrera-Sobek es Profesora y Vicerrectora Asociada de Diversidad, Equidad y Política Académica en el Departamento de Estudios Chican@ de la Universidad de California, Santa Barbara. Ha escrito numerosos artículos y libros relacionados con su área de investigación: pasillos, canciones y baladas como discurso que retrata la cultura mexicano-americana. Además, ha participado en el rodaje de documentales. Sobre todo, ha tenido un papel muy activo en pro de los estudios Chican@ en todo el mundo. Tuvimos la oportunidad de entrevistarla cuando participó en la Tercera Conferencia Bienal de la Asociación Internacional de Estudios Interamericanos, titulada De/ Colonización en las Américas: Continuidad y Cambio del 6 de agosto al 8 de agosto de 2014 en Lima, Perú.
