Translating The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien presents a challenge to any translator in any language. Some of the problems the translator faces are similar to other texts, while others are specific to this work. The aim of this paper is to identify some of the specific problems this work poses to translators in order to preserve in another language the world invented by Tolkien.
