Abstract

This document presents the results of an analysis in which foreign language-culture teaching, text linguistics’ and the ethnography of communication converge within the boundaries of a well-known teaching methodology, the communicative approach. Its goal is to evaluate and ratify whether texts of English as Foreign Language (EFL) and of French as Foreign Language (FFL) comply with the demands of the communicative approach. Furthermore, proposals for the implementation of activities regarding text linguistics’ (Adam, 1987, 1997 y 2000) as well as ethnography of communication (Salins, 1992) into the classroom can be found within. One of the principal contributions this dossier brings is to establish a dialogue among day-to-day teaching practices, text linguistics’ and the ethnography of communication.
