About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Verbum et Lingua: Didáctica, Lengua y Cultura (ISSN: 2007-7319) is a Diamond Open Access scientific journal edited by researchers of the Department of Modern Languages and funded by the University of Guadalajara.

Its primary objective is to disseminate scientific knowledge and academic debate within the fields of applied linguistics, second language acquisition, teacher training, and language teaching methodology. The journal is addressed to researchers, language teachers, postgraduate students, and educational professionals.

To ensure scientific rigor and excellence, all published research articles, theoretical reflections, and pedagogical interventions are original, unpublished works and are subject to a strict double-blind peer review process.

The journal fosters international dialogue and accepts submissions in five languages: Spanish, English, French, German, and Italian, while also promoting the study and revitalization of other languages. Verbum et Lingua does not charge authors any submission or publication fees (Zero APCs).

Publication Frequency

The journal operates under a continuous publication model, organizing its annual volume into two semi-annual issues:

  • Issue 1: Covers the period from January 1 to June 30.

  • Issue 2: Covers the period from July 1 to December 31.

Articles are published and integrated into the table of contents of the corresponding issue immediately upon completion of the technical editing process, thereby accelerating the visibility and availability of research findings.

Formats and Digital Preservation

To ensure maximum visibility, accessibility, and indexing by international search engines and repositories, articles are published in PDF format (for traditional reading) and XML JATS (the international markup standard that ensures long-term preservation and metadata interoperability).
